How soon after I fail the assessment can I take my resit?

Exploring the options available to you if you fail your annual assessment.
QUICK ANSWER Immediately after failing
When it comes to failing the annual assessment, the DVSA do advise that you should wait a minimum of 7 days before attempting it again. This time allows you to revise any topics that you may have failed on during your previous attempt.

MOT Juice also advises that in the event of a failure, you should take time to reflect on your score, and prepare for your next attempt. Specifically MOT Juice advises you:
  • Wait a minimum of 3 days, wherever possible, before attempting again.
  • Review previous training modules, specifically covering the topics that you may have underperformed in.
  • Retake any training modules you feel will give you better knowledge for your next exam.
  • Take a few attempts at the MOT Juice Mock Exam to make sure you’re ready for your next attempt.
However, this is not an enforced rule so you can technically attempt your next exam immediately after failing. There is no system or process in place to prevent you from doing so.
