The annual training is in place to ensure testers have trained on the topics for the annual assessment. It’s therefore generally expected that the training is done before the exam.
The DVSA also prefer testers to have completed the training and exam before the last quarter of the training year – In other words, before January each year.
VEs have been known to penalise MOT testers and businesses during a site visit due to not completing the annual training before the exam, as well as not having completed both before January each year.
Custom company settings
Although the MOT Juice system does not enforce the completion of annual training before taking your assessment be default, companies do have the ability to enable settings within their MOT Juice account to enforce their MOT testing staff to complete all their training before they can attempt their annual assessment.
To do this, as a company level user go to Annual Exams and from your Quick Actions bar, click 'Settings'.
Then toggle the 'restrict exams' option to your preference.
- Enabled: Testers are required to complete 3+ hours of annual training before they can access their exam.
- Disabled: Testers can access their exam without requiring completion of 3+ hours of annual training.
