Who has permission to update equipment calibration records?

Understanding permissions around managing MOT equipment and calibration data within MOT Juice.
Introduction
Updating equipment calibration records in MOT Juice is restricted to specific user roles within your account. This ensures that calibration data remains accurate, controlled, and compliant with MOT requirements.

While many users can view equipment and calibration information, only certain roles have permission to edit and update these records.
Who can update calibration records?
Garage/Site-level users
Users at garage level have full permission to manage calibration records for their site. This includes:
  • Site Managers
  • Garage Managers
  • Aftersales Managers
These users can:
  • Add new calibration records
  • Update existing calibration details
  • Upload calibration certificates and documents
  • Manage calibration schedules and dates
Client-level users (senior roles)
Users with client-level access can update calibration records across all sites within the business. This includes:
  • Senior Managers
  • Directors
  • Business Owners
They have full control to:
  • View and edit calibration records across multiple garages
  • Maintain compliance at a business-wide level
  • Ensure all sites are up to date and inspection-ready
Who cannot update calibration records?
Testers
Testers can view equipment and calibration records, but they cannot update or edit them.

They are able to:
  • See when calibration is due
  • Check the status of equipment
  • View calibration history and documents
However, they do not have permission to:
  • Add or edit calibration records
  • Upload calibration certificates
  • Change calibration dates or details
Why are permissions set this way?
Restricting who can update calibration records helps to:
  • Maintain accuracy of important compliance data
  • Prevent accidental changes to calibration history
  • Ensure accountability by limiting edits to authorised users
  • Keep records consistent across your business
At the same time, giving testers visibility ensures they can still:
  • Check equipment readiness before use
  • Identify when calibration is due
  • Raise any issues with management
Helpful tip
Make sure the right users are assigned the correct roles within your account. This ensures calibration records are kept accurate, while still giving your team the visibility they need.
